Child Maintenance Options has been working closely with a variety of support organisations including National Family Mediation, who have supplied the following information providing examples of a variety of tools and services which they have to offer.
Who are we?
National Family Mediation (NFM) is the largest family mediation provider in England and Wales by providing 16,000 mediations a year with an 83% success rate nationwide.
We assist both married and unmarried couples who are in or have been through the process of separation or divorce, and the children who are impacted by this. NFM mediators help clients to reach joint decisions about the issues associated with their separation - children, finance and property.
How can mediation help?
Mediation makes divorce and separation as simple as possible. It is never easy, and for most people it is a painful time when lives become confused and uncertain. Our mediators are trained in all aspects of family law but more importantly, they are skilled at reducing conflict in divorce. They can help you make your own arrangements for property and finance. That means there is no need to go to court, no need to spend enormous amounts on solicitors, and you decide how to look after your children as separated parents.
We have a range of subjects on our website, such as:-
- Considering family mediation - helps you resolve conflict and reach agreement on all issues surrounding separation, divorce or dissolution of civil partnership.
- Direct consultation with children – We offer children an opportunity to express their views and wishes about the issues affecting them post separation.
- 7 questions to ask before you separate and practical steps to follow once you make the decision
